- Summary:
- Traditionally, men have dominated in the South African workforce while women stayed home to look after the house and children. The reality is very different for many women today. More black and colored women work, mostly in part-time menial jobs, to make ends meet. And increasingly, as the need for skilled labor grows, women from all ethnic backgrounds are joining the workforce. Like elsewhere, the business culture is gradually changing, and empowerment is a popular topic of conversation as more and more women exit the so-called formal sector to start their own businesses or work as consultants.
