Summary:
The G20 is a powerful, informal group of nineteen countries and the European Union. It also includes a representative from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The list evolved from an effort to include major developing countries with countries that already had developed economies. Its purpose is to address issues of the international financial system. The G20 membership comprises a mix of the world's largest advanced and emerging economies, representing about two-thirds of the world's population, 90 percent of global gross domestic product, and over 80 percent of global trade. So which countries are in the G20 and why is the group still relevant? Learn more.
