- Summary:
- Mexico's climate ranges from temperate to tropical, depending on the altitude. Mexico City, high above sea level at the same latitude as Hawaii and Bombay, has moderate temperatures year-round. By contrast, Guadalajara, the next-largest city, is at a lower elevation and somewhat warmer. Finally, Monterrey ranges from freezing in the winter to a sweltering 40 degrees Centigrade (104 degrees Fahrenheit) or higher in summer. The rapidly growing border cities of Juárez and Mexicali have similar extremes. Learn the best times to visit beaches and Maya ruins in the tropical lowlands and when they become hot and humid.
