- Summary:
- In Singapore, there's a lively after-work scene downtown as locals and expatriates get together for drinks and dinner. The most popular places are Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, situated upstream from the mouth of the Singapore River, and Chijmes, a historic building complex on Victoria Street. Don't be offended if you're never invited to a local's home for dinner. It's extremely rare to get such an invitation except for a holiday celebration. By contrast, expatriates routinely host dinner parties at home. If you're ever invited to a local's home, you'll most likely be served traditional local food - noodles, rice, a curry dish, and fish.
