Summary:
Often described as the metropolis with the turbulent past, Berlin is by far the most exciting and cosmopolitan city in Germany. It's the official capital and attracts a huge amount of investment. In addition, numerous corporate, cultural, educational, and international organizations have their headquarters in the city. By European standards, Berlin is a relatively young city. Learn more about its founding in 1230 when Coln and Berlin on both sides of the River Spree were combined to create a trading center. By the 1920s, Berlin had become the largest industrial city in Europe and a major intellectual and cultural center. Berlin was devastated during the Second World War and was eventually divided into East and West Berlin during the Cold War era. Now, Berlin is thriving again. Monuments, government buildings, and infrastructure are all undergoing major renovation. Explore this vibrant city, known for its excitement and innovation.
