Summary:
Turin is the capital of the Piedmont region and an important business and cultural center in northern Italy. Explore the city's origins as a Roman municipality, whose ancient influence can still be seen in the chessboard-grid layout of the city. More recently, Turin has become a major European crossroad for industry, commerce, and trade. It's part of the famous "industrial triangle" along with Milan and Genoa, and it's ranked third in Italy, after Milan and Rome, for economic strength. Home of the Shroud of Turin, the city has a rich culture and history.
