Summary:
Mexico's population is growing at a considerably slower rate than in the past. The current growth rate is about 1.4 percent per year. Nonetheless, controlling growth, especially in the cities, is a government priority. Mexicans are more of a blend of Spanish and Indian ancestry than Latin Americans. Mestizos - Mexicans of mixed Indian-Spanish descent - account for more than 60 percent of the population. Indigenous Indians represent another 30 percent. Small populations of blacks of African origin also call Mexico home - most live along the southern coast - as well as nearly half a million Americans and some Canadians. Explore the local demographics of the people who call Mexico home.
