- "Music News was Capitol Records’s continuation of its promotional magazine, The Capitol News from Hollywood 1943-1952). Though it was pocket-sized like its predecessor, it featured fewer distinct columns over its 36 pages. The magazine’s content is organized into two broad categories, departments and features. The Departments sections occur regularly and include: Across the Country – small photos arranged in tiles from various performances, followed by several pages of small paragraphs about both the professional and personal lives of entertainment industry public figures; Vamp ‘Till Ready – a recurring column that relayed behind-the-scenes anecdotes from film sets and recording studios; Warblers – which was a direct correlate to The Capitol News from Hollywood’s previous iterations of “Strictly Singers,” and “What’s with Warblers”; and finally, In the Spot – a listing of performance dates and locations along the tours of major artists on Capitol Records. As a major promotional vehicle for Capitol Records, Music News contained advertisements for new releases of singles and albums by the label, including full-page spreads in some instances. The features category varied each month and included short articles by guest contributors, profiles on artists, articles describing trends in popular culture (one example was an exposé in which the author enumerated the ways that modern teenagers were “cornballs”), and news from venues across the country. Music News existed for only six months before being retitled Music Views"-- RIPM Jazz.
