Este trabajo describe las formas de la vida indígena en la Amazonía del Ecuador lo cual puede ser instructivo y útil, especialmente cuando se las compara a las prácticas de uso intensivo de los finqueros colonos, quines son nuevos en esta región. Con un mayor progreso de la frontera del desarrollo, los pequeños grupos de sobrevivientes de los pueblos indígenas pronto llegarán a ser una reducida minoría de una rápida expansión de la población.
