- <div><B>José María Blanco White</B> was a masterful, canonical voice in Cadiz and Seville as well as a member of the Academia de Letras Humanas. He left Spain for England in 1810, where he resumed his studies of English, his second language, and Greek. He was a professor at the University of Oxford and wrote literary criticisms in English and Spanish that were published in <I>Variedades o El Mensajero de Londres</I>.</div>
