- "The concept of the "own sanction" constitutes one of the central pillars—and, in the realm of comparative law, perhaps the most innovative one—of the transitional justice model envisaged in the Peace Agreement between the Colombian Government and the now-defunct FARC-EP guerrilla group. One might go even further and assert that this type of sanction—one of the three categories provided for—lies at the very heart of the agreement reached for the purpose of establishing justice in accordance with international standards.
