Attributed in the Shulḥan ʻarukh Ari (by Isaac Luria) to a 13th century cabalist and student of Nahamanides (title page); scholarly attribution follows a manuscript attribution to Moses ben Jacob of Kiev; see: Liberman, Chaim. Ohel Rahel, volume 1, page 93-104 (the work was composed in Crimea, following his expulsion with the 1495 expulsion of Jews from Lithuania by Alexander Jagiellon, after which he was ransomed by the Crimean Tartars, circa 1505).
