Summary:
Single issue of a Republican political newspaper printed in the Thirteenth Ward of Philadelphia for January 10, 1885. Notice under the heading reads "The "Judge" will be published Pro Bono Publico, whenever and wherever Official Rascality and Mal-administration in Office attempts to again impose itself upon an outraged people." Most articles focus on perceived political corruption, especially that of local police magistrate Ezra Lukens. Articles include "Lukens' Prey.," accusing Lukens of accepting bribes to let prisoners go free, and "Missing Taxes," accusing him of skimming tax money for his own profit. Also includes letters to the editor and warnings from the editors to Republican readers not to nominate Lukens for a third term.
