- The effects of controlling crystallographic texture, using a series of pseudoisothermal or falling temperature rolling schedules, on 315°C tensile properties of annealed 6.3-mm-thick Zircaloy-4 plate are discussed. Quantitative relationships between some tensile properties in both the longitudinal and the transverse directions and orientation parameters are reported. The 315°C elongation and reduction in area, in both directions, qualitatively follow the same type of second order relationship. The texture itself appears to depend on the average rolling temperature within three specific temperature ranges, probably as a consequence of changes in deformation mechanisms or changes in rolling stresses with changes in temperature. At temperatures near, but above the ?/? + ? transus, the basal poles are nearly coincident with the transverse direction; at temperatures between the recrystallization temperature and the ?/? + ? transus temperature, the basal poles approach the plate-normal direction; and at temperatures below the recrystallization temperature, the basal poles assume the usual cold-rolling orientation of 30 to 40 deg from the normal in the transverse plane
