Summary:

The outbreak caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus interrupted the period of gradual reduction in the level of public debt not only in Poland, but also in the European Union countries in relation to GDP, which had been ongoing since 2014. The COVID-19 pandemic also had a very negative impact on other macroeconomic indicators, such as the dynamics of economic growth, inflation and central bank interest rates. The main purpose of the author's considerations is to characterize the public debt with an indication of the factors influencing its occurrence in Poland, as well as to present the trend of increasing debt resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.

Wybuch epidemii wywołanej koronawirusem COVID-19 przerwał trwający od 2014 r. okres stopniowej redukcji poziomu długu publicznego nie tylko w Polsce, ale także w krajach Unii Europejskiej w relacji do PKB. Pandemia COVID-19 wywarła także bardzo negatywny wpływ na inne makroekonomiczne wskaźniki, takie jak dynamika wzrostu gospodarczego, inflacja czy wysokość stóp procentowych banków centralnych. Głównym celem rozważań prowadzonych przez autorkę jest charakterystyka długu publicznego ze wskazaniem czynników wpływających na jego występowanie w Polsce oraz prezentacja tendencji narastającego zadłużenia wynikającej z kryzysu COVID-19.
