- Summary:
- Archival caption: Right to Work demonstration 21st February 1981 Some 60,000 people marched in the freezing cold in Glasgow, to protest against Tory policies that have created massive unemployment, especially in Scotland. They marched from the centre of the city to Queens Park, where they were addressed by a number of speakers, winding up with the Leader of the Labour Party, Michael Foot. It took more than four hours for the demonstration to arrive at the park, and the last of the marchers were still coming through the gates as the rally ended and the massive crowd began to leave. Our Picture Shows: Labour Leader Michael Foot seen here marching with George Galloway chairman of the Scottish Labour Party.
