Archival caption: Shamed England soccer fans return to Britain after trouble on a ferry bound for Sweden. None had tickets for England's World Cup qualifying match in Gothenburg. The captain of the ferry decided to return when it became obvious that the situation could become very dangerous. One fan plunged overboard to his death during the shocking night of violence on the North Sea ship Tor Britannia. Pictured, fans being led away by police at Harwich, Essex. 4th September 1989.
