- Summary:
- Archival caption: Greenham Common Protestors demonstrate against US Cruise Missiles, Sunday 12th December 1982. Amid the sleet and rain of a bitter winter afternoon, 30,000 women made a remarkable demonstration for world peace. In the heart of the English countryside, they linked hands to form a non-stop nine-mile chain. It surrounded Greenham Common airbase in Berkshire, where 96 American Cruise nuclear missiles are due to be installed next year.
