- Summary:
- The purpose of this title is to offer a deep reflection that goes beyond the current political context regarding the state of militarization in Mexico, as well as to explore possible ways to reverse it. Each chapter aims to connect academic analysis with the real-life impacts of the complex phenomenon of militarization on people s everyday daily lives and the broader issue of military presence in the country. Some of the key topics addressed in this study include: the trajectory of militarization in Mexico during the 21st century; civil-military relations in Latin America from a constitutional perspective; direct militarization from a human rights viewpoint and the research challenges it presents in Mexico; and the Mexico City police in the 21st century as a case of demilitarization of public security, among others.
