- Summary:
- The purpose of this paper is to present the results obtained in impact tests for woods conducted by the Bureau of Standards. Woods having the greatest strength for their weight are used for airplane wing beams although the static and compression tests upon which the selection is made do not represent even approximately, the actual loading conditions on the airplane structure.
