- Summary:
- Since 2003, the Congress has appropriated $53.31 billion for Iraq relief and reconstruction activities. The Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of State (DoS), and the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) manage these activities and created records related to their programs. They have the responsibility for preserving the records for Iraq reconstruction activities against loss or premature destruction. DoD's records exceed 100,000 program and contract records. DoS and USAID have an estimated 2,650 program management, grant, and contract records. The objective for this report is to determine the extent to which principal U.S. agencies responsible for managing Iraq reconstruction activities have plans to preserve reconstruction records.
