Summary:
This report details a three point strategy to achieve energy independence for the United States. The three points are: (1) Concentrate efforts on developing the supplies of energy that we have and can have in the United States. This would include innovative uses of technology and expertise to develop more energy resources on our home turf. (2) Offer choices to consumers that would save energy and reduce costs. These choices could consist of weatherizing workplaces and homes, offering more affordable fuel efficient and advanced vehicles, and touting alternative transportation modes. (3) Target clean energy innovation. Clean technologies are necessary for energy independence and it would behoove the U.S. to encourage innovation in clean technology by financing research in this area.
