- Summary:
- Hot branding provides a marking technique that meets the criteria to identify pinnipeds in long-term studies of population dynamics. Steller's sea lion pups were branded in 1987 to 1989 at rookeries in Alaska and Russia (Kuril Islands). This study reports on resightings of those pups at Marmot Island, Alaska (located east of Afognak Island) through 1994, although some resightings are located elsewhere.
