Summary:
National Incidence Study of Child Abuse and Neglect was established by the U.S. Congress to provide estimates of the incidence and of child abuse and neglect in the United States every decade and monitor trends in prevalence. The first study was conducted in 1974. This report presents the findings of the 4th study, presenting data derived in 2010 from a nationally representative sample of 122 counties. It provides information on the number of children harmed by abuse and neglect, child characteristics, family characteristics, perpetrator characteristics, and child protection investigations.
