Summary:
This procedure describes a reproducible way to convert a variety of biomass samples into a uniform material suitable for compositional analysis. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) LAPs for compositional analysis have been optimized using samples with a specific particle size range and moisture content. All NREL biomass compositional analysis procedures assume that the samples have been prepared to meet these specifications.
