Summary:

Mike Royko was born on September 19, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. Royko was a reporter for the Chicago Daily News. His articles were syndicated in over 100 newspapers daily. On October 18, 1971, Royko received a threatening letter concerning an article he had written that appeared in the October 11, 1971 newspaper. The article was about John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Edward Kennedy. The envelope containing the letter was postmarked from Monaca, PA. The Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) concluded to not consider prosecution, as the sender of the letter had not been located. By letter dated June 2, 1976, Royko received a threatening letter signed "Corleone.". Royko stated that a person using that name had been calling him and barging into his office at the Daily News since March 1973. Royko considered the man to be a mental patient who escaped from an institution and contacts him using the name "Michael Corleone." The person using the Corleone name was identified, but the AUSA again declined prosecution. Royko received documents from a group called "Resist" who were mailing stolen documents from the Media, PA Resident FBI Office. The case is referred to as the MEDBURG case.
