- Summary:
- Final report of an audit performed by the Office of Inspector General to evaluate NASA's management of space shuttle safety upgrades. Finds that NASA appropriately managed safety upgrades approved for implementation to ensure that they met established safety objectives, were selected using quantitative and qualitative factors, and were adequately funded for FY 2002. Also finds that NASA ensured that the integration of safety upgrades did not adversely affect the flight schedule. Identifies concerns expressed by the Congress and Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel about adequacy of further funding.
