Summary:
The Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offers the June 2000 consumer alert entitled "Cigars: No Such Thing as a Safe Smoke." The text is available in PDF format. New warning labels are being placed on cigar packages. The warnings alert smokers about the serious health risks of cigar smoking. The FTC lists various warnings from the U.S. Surgeon General. The cigar companies are required to rotate the various warnings on cigar packages.
