- Summary:
- Technologies based on advances in genetics, pharmacology, neuroscience, and related fields of biomedicine have the potential to help the sick and provide relief to the suffering, but they also have the potential to be used in ways that lack clear medical benefits or may even prove to be improper or unethical. This working paper explores some sources of the ambiguity involved, but argues for the importance of nonetheless seeking out a distinction between therapy and enhancement.
