Summary:
Directed by Charles Chaplin. His New Job is the first comedy filmed at Essanay-an apt title given the circumstances. It is also the only film that Chaplin shot in the Chicago studios. As for his comedies made the previous year at Keystone, Chaplin set the action in a film studio. Hired as a prop man, Charlie is soon demoted to carpenter's assistant at the Lockstone Studio (a reference to his previous employer, Keystone), before becoming an actor, which ends in disaster.
