- Summary:
- Ableism is a form of discrimination that marginalizes people with disabilities, chronic illness, mental health conditions, or neurodivergent traits such as ADHD or dyslexia. It can lead to stereotyping, exclusion, and unequal treatment, and at its worst, bullying or abuse. Ableism often goes unrecognized, yet it can have serious impacts, including shame, low self-esteem, anxiety, and trauma. In this video, psychologist Peter Quarry explains what ableism is, how to identify it, and what you can do to challenge it in your workplace or community.
