- "A Note on the Transfers: These movies were all made on 16mm film, using a variety of film stocks, cameras, lenses, and splicers, over a period of 66 years. Today they exist as prints (of which there are sometimes several versions), original negatives, positives, and internegatives. They are in black and white and color, sometimes both. When several versions exist, the best one was used for transfer. The sound usually comes from the movie's optical track, with some mild digital noise reduction; in some cases, when an original recording of the music was available, the track was reconstructed, in whole or in part, closely following Rudy's version. Rudy made a total of 101 movies between 1936 and 1999. This selection was chosen to represent the breadth and variety of his work. Although these are some of his best films, there are many others that could have been included as well"--Jacob Burckhardt.
