- Summary:
- This book presents a study of beads, pendants and seals in amber, glass, gold, bronze/copper and stone, from the Bronze Age in Southern Italy, Sicily and the Southern Tyrrhenian islands. A detailed analysis of these objects, both published and unpublished, was carried out, with the data allowing for reconstruction of the role played by ornaments in the Bronze Age society of southern Italy, Sicily and lower Tyrrhenian. The work highlights how a study of this type of finds can contribute significantly to the reconstruction of ancient lifestyles, both in relation to the economic role that ornaments could play in the context of short, medium and long-range exchanges, and also to the social significance attributed to them as symbols of individual and/or collective identity.
