- While Istanbul is the heart of Turkey’s contemporary art scene, Galeri Selvin has undertaken an important project to bring art to a wider audience and document the value of Turkish plastic arts. The work titled “50 Artists 50 Workshops in Istanbul” opens the doors of the workshops of 50 important representatives of Turkish plastic arts to the world. This unique project aims to strengthen the national and international footprint of Turkish art, while also being a reference source for art lovers. The book brings together 50 artists, each of whom is known in their own field and has achieved international success. The artists have completed their academic education, have held exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, and have established themselves in their own artistic language. The work presents the biographies of each artist, their approaches to art, the natural environments in their workshops, and their workspaces, along with photographs. The work, which is prepared in Turkish and English, invites those who want to discover art to the very center of the artists’ creative processes. The book is an important reference source not only for art lovers but also for new generation artists who want to take part in the art world. This work, which will announce the artistic power of rising Turkey on an international level, is also a document that introduces Istanbul to the world. As Galeri Selvin, we have been organizing a series of events for over 40 years to contribute to the development of contemporary art. This book stands out as an important step towards fulfilling this mission. We initiated this project in order to create awareness in the art environment and to pass on our cultural heritage to future generations. The book “50 Artists 50 Workshops in Istanbul” is on its way to becoming an important resource for the Republic of Turkey, for Istanbul, and for art lovers around the world. This work is a great step for the development of Turkish plastic arts and will bring Turkish artists closer to the global art scene. This documentary work, which will bring Turkey’s contemporary art together with the world and shed light on the workshops of 50 important Turkish artists, reminds us once again of the power and permanence of art.
