- "The South China Sea Arbitration between the Republic of the Philippines and the People's Republic of China concerned an application by the Republic of the Philippines in respect of the role of historic rights and the source of maritime entitlements in the South China Sea, the status of certain maritime features and the maritime entitlement they are capable of generating, and the lawfulness of certain action by the People's Republic of China that were alleged by the Republic of the Philippines to violate the 1982 United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea ('UNCLOS'). The Republic of the Philippines initiated arbitral proceedings under Annex VII of the UNCLOS on 22 January 2013. The proceedings were administered by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). The first part of the PCA award series contain tribunal's rules and procedure, the tribunal award on jurisdiction and admissibility dated 29 October 2015, and the PCA's press release of the same date.
