"The following letters were written and published in one of the papers of this city [Boston], while measures were in progress for the erection of a new theatre in Common-street ... . Aug. 1, 1827."--Notice (p. [2])
Joseph P. Thompson's Memoir of David Hale (1850), p. 147, states that Hale addressed these letters in 1826 to the committee for erecting the Tremont Theatre in Boston.
