- Published for the benefit of the Shepard Congregational Society from a manuscript donated by Rev. James Blake Howe, of Claremont, N.H. The original "is in the form of a 24mo. about 5 inches by 3, bound, and containing 200 pages, 94 of which are filled with the biography, diary, and a few scattered accounts of the author's pecuniary concerns." In this publication "the original orthography has been carefully preserved. Several sentences, after long deliberation, have been omitted in the transcript, as they were conceived to be, both in matter and manner, unsuited to what some call the fastidiousness, but others the refinement and delicacy of the age."
