- Summary:
- The four defendants were indicted for causing riots, disturbance of public worship, rude and indecent behavior and conspiring to disturb a meeting, with Shaw and Alley being found insane and Buffum and Sprague found guilty. This work disputes some of the claims made by the prosecution.

- The disturbances at the Friends' meeting house in Lynn occurred in Feb. 1822; the trial was held on Mar. 16.
