"At a meeting of those members of the last General Assembly, who had voted in favour of the resolution introduced by Dr. Miller, condemning the errors contained in Barnes' Notes on the Romans, held at Pittsburgh, in May, 1836, agreeably to a call through the moderator, the undersigned were appointed a committee to prepare and circulate a suitable publication on the state of the Church, and particularly on the two great subjects which had occupied the attention of the assembly, viz: the Barnes' case, and the foreign missionary question."--P.
