A short sketch of the life of Elijah Shaw : who served for twenty-one years in the Navy of the United States, taking an active part in four different wars between the United States & foreign powers ; namely, First-with France, in 1798 ; Second-with Tripoli, from 1802 to 1805 ; Third-with England, from 1812 to 1815 ; Fourth-with Algiers, from 1815 to 1816 ; and Assisted in subduing the pirates, from 1822 to 1826, and in 1843 entered on board the Old Ship Zion, under a new commander, being in the 73[r]d year of his age.
