The first four Decades. The fourth Decade, with omission of the dedicatory matter at the beginning and end, appears under the heading "Of the Landes and Ilandes lately founde : and of the maners of the inhabitauntes of the same". Through a printer's error, to which Eden calls attention, l. 315b, the headline of "The thyrde Decade" has been wrongly carried over this book, or Decade, which is not divided into chapters as are the first three Decades.

Arber has inserted this, the true headline, in brackets, before "The thyrde Decade", the incorrect headline of the 1555 edition, though he does not mention the fact that the book was printed as the fourth Decade in the two complete editions of the Latin original, 1530 and 1587. Eden probably used the Basle 1533 edition of Anghiera, "De rebus oceanis & orbe nouo decades tres", in which the fourth Decade is printed under its original title "De insulis nuper inventis" and is not divided into chapters.
