An epistolary biographical sketch by James Cook Richmond of the invalid writer Cynthia Taggart. Includes letters and poems written by Miss Taggart.
"To the daughters of the late John Jay, who have been eye witnesses of its truths, this little sketch is dedicated by their affectionate friend."--P. [3].
"Introductory notice ..."--P. [5]-8. This notice appears in the 1841 edition under title "Notice from Rev. Dr. Seabury, from The Churchman of September 12, 1835."
A letter (p. [108]-115) to the author from his brother, William Richmond, describes the current condition of the Taggart sisters and their Rhode Island cottage. The letter is dated: Richmond Rock, Seconet, Rhode Island, 28th October, 1845.
A note dated September, 1851 (p. [116]-120), describes the cottage on the Isle of Wight made famous by Legh Richmond in his Dairyman's daughter.
