Notes:
An attempt to reply to the "Country-man's answer, to a letter intituled The distressed state of the town of Boston ... " pub. in the "News-letter of April 18 1720," and to "A letter from one in the country to his friend in Boston" &c. which appeared in pamphlet form April 23, 1720. The author (said to be Dr. Oliver Noyes) evidently regards both answers to Colman's pamphlet as the work of one person. cf. A.M. Davis, "Tracts relating to the currency of the Mass. Bay, 1682-1720," p. 295-296, and Sabin, Bibl. amer.
The signature of Thos. Foxcroft on title-page, and note (apparently in the same hand): Supposed to be Dr. Noyes.
Reproduction of original from Library of Congress.
Sabin no. 40282.
