Summary:

This book is the result of an encounter between people who have long collaborated in the training of teachers and educators in Training Centers, Universities, and Research Centers. Each one of them understands, in his or her own way, that utopia cannot be removed from Education, otherwise it would be deprived of its human and humanizing meaning. However, a contemporary discourse of diverse provenance, conveying the urgency of radically changing the School, as well as the urgency of innovating its purposes, procedures, and actors, tends to push utopia away from the educational horizon, bringing, in parallel, dystopia closer. With this problem in mind, they decided to organize a cycle of conferences where it could be thought about in the light of philosophy, ethics, anthropology, history, psychology, and pedagogy. The path (or paths) that these disciplines, so marginalized in this discourse, have taken constitutes precious support in deciding the future of education, which, contrary to what they insist on implying, is not determined and closed; it is, as it has always been, open, taking the direction that we understand, in the present, to give it.

Este livro surgiu do encontro entre pessoas que, desde há muito, colaboram na formação de professores e de educadores, afectas a Centos de Formação, Universidades e Centros de Investigação. Cada uma delas entende, à sua maneira, que a utopia não pode ser afastada da Educação, sob pena de a destituir do seu sentido humano e humanizante. Contudo, um discurso contemporâneo de diversa proveniência, veiculando a premência de mudar radicalmente a Escola, bem como a urgência de inovar os seus propósitos, procedimentos e atores, tende a afastar a utopia do horizonte educativo, fazendo, em paralelo, aproximar a distopia. Com este problema em mente, decidiram organizar um ciclo de conferências, onde ele pudesse ser pensado à luz da filosofia, da ética, da antropologia, da história, da psicologia, e da pedagogia. O percurso (ou percursos) que estas disciplinas, tão marginalizadas nesse discurso, têm feito constitui um precioso apoio para decidir o futuro da educação, o qual, ao contrário, do que se insiste em dar a entender, não está determinado e fechado; antes está, como sempre esteve, aberto, tomando a orientação que entendermos, no presente, imprimir-lhe.
