- A masterpiece of profound emotional impact, the Requiem Mass in D minor is one of the great monuments of sacred music. Composed in 1791, the Requiem Mass was Mozart's final work. Although only about two-thirds of it were written by the composer himself, it remains one of his most beloved compositions. Countless legends surround the piece: the mysterious circumstances of its commission, the timing, and Mozart's premature death have all contributed to its mythic status.
