- Take a rhythmic journey around Lisbon’s vibrant suburbs through the lives of a community of musicians establishing their place to exist in a city of complex identity struggles. Different generations and backgrounds meet, Angola to Sao Tome, Cabo Verde and Guinea Bissau represented by old musicians and young producers reimagining a new Afro-Portuguese beat. Rita Maia is an internationally known club DJ, broadcaster at Gilles Peterson Worldwide FM, a curator, record collector and creative director. Her work showcases artists from all over the world, shaping her unique style in music, making lineage connections between rhythms and cultures, past and future, new emerging scenes and all the mutations in between. Vasco Viana studied cinematography, sound and image and began his career as an assistant cinematographer. He gained critical acclaim as Director of Photography for his work in Arena (Golden Palm Award, Cannes Festival 2009) and Rafa (Golden Bear Award, Berlinale 2012).
