- Staff notation, 16 staves per page. Some pieces include brief notations of dance calls.
- Summary:
- This volume contains dance music in forms popular in the nineteenth century. Quadrilles and cotillions form a significant portion of the collection, which also includes waltzes, polkas, schottisches, galops and other dance forms. Most pieces are unattributed. The few composers' names that appear include Henry S. Colman (1808-1878) and J.S. Knight, both of whom published numerous pieces in the mid- to late nineteenth century.
- Notes:
- Ink on paper, with pages (35 cm) sewn into a fabric cover (39 cm). Pages are worn, many with tears at the edges and soiling or stains. Last 10 pages of the volume exhibit mild to moderate burn-through of the ink. Two pages have come loose, with one (possibly the original opening page) exhibiting extensive damage. Includes 1 leaf of music (12 x 26 cm) sewn into the score.
