- Summary:
- "I wanted to bring together people with strong personalities and strong speeches, to multiply the possibilities of colours and universes, and to be constantly surprised, in order to always keep creativity on the alert," confides vocalist Leïla Martial about her project entitled "Baa Box." Accompanied by drummer and vocalist bassist Eric Perez (member of the jazz fusion band Post Image) and colourfully-toned guitarist Pierre Tereygeol, Leïla Martial draws an essence from her two accomplices on their shared quest for simplicity, and their bewitching symbiosis takes us to imaginary lands. Fascinated by traditional and shamanic songs, Leïla Martial has developed a poetic language created from scratch during her travels and encounters. Experimental, this concert given at the Festival Détours de Babel in 2019 is somewhere between improvisation, jazz, electro and rock, and the timbres and sound effects play a major role in the musical universe these three create. The result keeps us on our toes, and the contrasts of a wide variety of musical atmospheres underline the singular beauty of their spellbinding melodies. **Anaïs Christidis Guillemard**.
