- Summary:
- From the Prague Spring Festival a stunning concert paying homage to, and standing in solidarity with the besieged Ukrainian nation. Under the decisive and energetic baton of Oksana Lyniv, this concert bursts into life with Eduard Resatsch's recently composed song cycle Up in Flames. JuliaTkacenko's crystalline soprano voice is perfect for this powerful new work, which sets to music poems by revered Ukrainian writer Lina Kostenko. This concert also offers an opportunity to hear the rarely performed Double Concertino for Clarinet, Bassoon and String Orchestra, by Richard Strauss, performed here masterfully by the young soloists Lilian Lefebvre and Minju Kim. To round off the evening Mozart's rousing Symphony 38, written in 1787 and first performed in Prague. A concert not to be missed! Rachel Rowntree.
