- In this novel group, bringing together three of the most creative musicians on the young Israeli jazz scene, Yaron Herman demon-strates the unique blend of pop and modernism that characterizes his music. Recorded on October 31, 2012 at the Gerard Bechar Theater in Jerusalem, from the very first notes, the music of this exceptional collaboration, initiated by pianist Yaron Herman, with drummer Ziv Ravitz and trumpet player Avishai Cohen, plunges the listener into a singular musical universe that's at once hybridized and magical, unquestionably arising from jazz and its history, as evidenced by its sense of improvisation and interplay, but at the same time, totally open to the influence of contemporary pop music, both in its forms and its sonorities. Recognized at the turn of the century as a genuine keyboard phenomenon, over the past fifteen years, Yaron Herman hasn't stopped exploring his own unique improvisational techniques, underpinned by the teachings and philosophy of theorist Opher Brayer, and based on a set of inter-twined mathematical sequences developed in the form of equations with multiple solutions. The pianist transcends any formality or dis-embodiment that might be inherent to this method through his boundless curiosity about the music of the world (from Coltrane to Scriabin, Keith Jarrett, Björk and Radiohead) and his profound insight into the spirit of the times, consistently leaning toward greater simplicity and accessibility in his music, belying any hint of studiousness through a constant quest for melody and groove. In this trio, which highlights his profound synergy with drummer Ziv Ravitz (they made a CD together in 2015, *Everyday*) and the dreamy, nocturnal lyricism of Avishai Cohen's trumpet (with its futuristic sonorities in some of the pieces, through the use of effect pedals and other electronic filters), Herman reveals every facet of his esthetic, founded on virtuosity, lyricism and inexhaustible melodic invention.
